The Story

A mother of pearl and 18k gold-plated 9k gold ring, set with blue enamel, 13 1.5mm x 1.2mm brilliant rubies, nine 2.6mm x 1.7mm white sapphires, and a 2mm freshwater pearl with a further seven rubies in its shank. A gold plate in its gallery is embossed with a phoenix, in keeping with Elizabeth I’s infamous Chequers ring it’s based on. The locket, however, does not frame portraits of the queen and her mother Anne Boleyn — a portrait perhaps proving the former's hidden affection for her, or perhaps serving as a reminder to be more prudent in politics than her, the execution being a more than notable moment in the country, and even more so, in Elizabeth’s childhood — but has been left to be filled at the discretion of its owner.

This piece is available on a one-off made-to-order basis in a size between 8 and 11, and will be delivered by Christmas.
